Fees for Surrogacy

Below are the potential estimated costs of the fees associated with a gestational surrogacy arrangement in the United States. Beyond are agency fee, these are the standard rates (except where we can lower them) that you would anticipate paying, even without the assistance of an agency. The fee structure will vary greatly from case to case. Some surrogates have greater expenses than others, and fees for IVF procedures vary from clinic to clinic. Depending on where the surrogate lives, there may be travel costs to consider. Actual fees will be determined when you are matched with a surrogate and a contract is written.
Agency Fee:
$8000
($4000 due upon signing agency contract, $4000 due upon positive selection of surrogate). This fee is paid to Bala Surrogacy Center for our services concerning your surrogacy journey. This includes advertising, approving, and screening your surrogate, managing the escrow account, and administering your case from beginning to end.
Surrogate Compensation:
$18000 and up
(Experienced surrogate may request a higher fee) This is paid to the surrogate monthly throughout the pregnancy. It starts following the confirmation of pregnancy.
Multiples fee:
$5000
For each additional baby
Monthly Allowance:
$200
Some surrogate?s request this allowance and some do not. Instead of having an itemized list of costs; this fee includes reimbursements for mileage, postage, faxes, fed-ex charges, housekeeping, childcare, and miscellaneous charges such as pregnancy test kits, vitamins, etc. It begins at contract signing and continues through one month after the birth.
Maternity Clothing Allowance
$500 ($750 for multiples)
Some surrogate?s request this allowance and some do not. Embryo Transfer Fee
$500
Paid after each embryo transfer procedure to compensate the surrogate for discomfort associated with the procedure. It also compensates for her bedrest.
Invasive Procedures
$500
Surrogate shall receive $500 per procedure for amniocentesis or other prenatal diagnostic testing, early termination procedures, fetal reduction, or ectopic pregnancy to compensate for the discomfort associated with the above procedures.
C-Section
$1500
Surrogate will receive an additional $1500 at the time of delivery if she is required to deliver via cesarean section to help compensate for the additional pain and suffering, added risks, and longer recovery time.
Lost Wages
Lost wages are always based on actual costs. Surrogate?s that work will have to provide pay stubs to agency.
Medical Insurance
Medical Insurance costs range from $200-$500/month if the surrogate does not have her own (surrogate friendly) insurance. Medical insurance premiums are paid for approximately 15 months.
Life Insurance
$300 approx
$250,000 term policy for surrogate in case of accidental death.
If travel is required, all hotel, airfare, meals, and transportation will be paid for by the Intended Parents.
Attorney Fees:
$5000 approx
This fee includes drafting surrogacy contract, contract review by surrogate's attorney, managing the escrow account, corresponding with attorney, pre-birth orders or adoption work.
